The Latin American Development Bank (CAF) will support the Center for Financial Studies of the Association of Banks of Peru (Asbanc) to promote the project Promotion of electronic money with financial education.
On the one hand, the project will focus on the development of financial capacities in sellers of markets and wineries in northern Lima, Piura and Sullana; And on the other hand will promote digital means of payment to reduce the use of cash in transactions, according to newspaper El Comercio.
“Through inclusion, financial systems generate greater possibilities to improve the allocation of resources for traditionally excluded sectors and thus increase access to services that increase the quality of life of society,” said Eleonora Silva, director representative of CAF in Peru.
For its part, the president of Asbanc , Óscar Rivera, highlighted the commitment of the banking sector to boost financial inclusion in Peru.
Tras destacar la positiva relación entre el incremento de inclusión financiera y desarrollo económico de los países, Eleonora Silva, directora representante de CAF en Perú, resaltó que esta iniciativa contribuirá, en el mediano plazo, a la incorporación al sistema financiero formal de personas y pequeños negocios que aún no son incluidos.
El mes pasado se lanzó comercialmente en el Perú la billetera móvil (BIM), una iniciativa del sector privado, iniciada por la Asociación de Bancos del Perú (Asbanc).
El denominado“Modelo Perú”, analizado en detalle en varios informes de Frecuencia Latinoamérica, es una plataforma de dinero electrónico que promete brindar un marco común e interoperable para los actores de esta industria.
