M2Banking & Fintech Latam hosts innovations in banking

innovations bankingInnovations in banking and the latest fintech developments will be at the forefront of the 8th annual M2Banking & Fintech Latam conference. For the second year in a row, the event will take place in Silicon Valley from July 18 to 20.

Sponsored by Mahindra Comviva and Billmo, the event will showcase the trends that attract major investment funding. A sizeable community of startups and developers will present their products and services to visionary companies in the market.

Leading investors as well as trend and financial innovation detectors have confirmed their participation, including Miguel Herrera, Partner, Quona Capita; Rob Frohwein, CEO & Co-Founder, Kabbage; and Jonathan Nelson, CEO, Hackers / Founders.

The panel of judges includes Derek Kerton, Chairman, Telecom Council SV; Elizabeth McQuerry, PhD, Glenbrook Partners; and Ernesto Piedras, CEO, The Competitive Intelligence Unit. Rounding out the list will be Miguel Herrera, Founding Partner, Quona Capital; Anabella Marciello, Executive Editor, and Ana María Yumiseva, CEO of Frecuencia Latinoamérica and M2Commerce Latam News.

A full and dynamic agenda

Topics to be covered will span two major segments, with the first focusing on the fintech ecosystem and mobile financial services in Latin America. Topics included in the second segment will touch on digital wallets and innovative services for the unbanked.

Other themes to be discussed include fintech strategies and innovations in banking, mobile commerce and payment platforms.

According to the GSMA, roughly 200 million people in Latin America do not access credit. In light of this statistic, Rosanna Ramos Velita, Chairperson of Caja Rural Los Andes, and Tiago Novais, Market Engagement Manager for the GSMA, will discuss the opportunities surrounding mobile money.

Despite efforts, 85% of all transactions in the region are in cash.
This year’s event will feature two entire days dedicated to banking, trends and mobile financial services, with a third day focused on payments and commerce using these mechanisms. An exclusive innovation and training tour will be held on July 18, with visits to some of the most progressive companies in the industry.
